Hi everyone! It’s been ONE MONTH since we packed up everything & moved from Charlotte, NC to Richmond, VA! It’s been exhausting, busy, and stressful, but exhilarating. We are SO happy to finally own our own home and settle into a new city. We lived in Charlotte for 3 years and we knew pretty early on that we didn’t see ourselves there long term. I wanted to move back to California, Tristan was interested in DC, we considered Boston (where he’s from), Greensboro/Winston (where I’m from), and about a million other places. We went back and forth, researched cost of living, talked to realtors, toured homes, and weren’t sold on anything for months. I graduated from VCU in Richmond, VA in 2012 and I really loved my time there. We had been there a few times to visit friends and Tristan really liked the area a lot. The cost of living and housing market are great, we have good friends there, and it’s a short hour and a half drive to DC so we started looking at houses there early this year. When we saw our place, we fell in love instantly. It’s a 3 bedroom condo in Rocketts Landing, right on the James River. The community is so safe and cozy and we LOVE being on the river… it’s too cold to truly enjoy right now but we will take full advantage as soon as Spring & Summer arrive! I’ve had a lot of fun getting acquainted with Richmond again, exploring all of the new places that have sprung up in the last 7 years, and Tristan is loving it so far too. All in all, we’re really happy with our decision and looking forward to all Richmond has to offer us!
If you have questions at all about our move or Richmond, leave them below! I’ll be sharing more about the new condo in days to come. 🙂 HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!
