Today I’m sharing how to create an adorable “mini man cave.” We made this super cute, tiny space for Milo in our new house. Throughout our build, there was a small space under the stairs right in the middle of our living room. We hadn’t asked for the space in the original plans for the house. I was confused until they put drywall in and realized it was there to stay. When I asked, the builder told us they add that for dogs or kids. I was instantly so excited to create an adorable little reading nook for Milo. I thought it would be the perfect “man cave” for him to read, play with toys, take naps, and show his friends once he can crawl and/or walk.
Since his nursery is animal themed, I decided to do a space theme in the man cave. The first thing I bought was the Mini Man Cave wall decal. You can select the color and size and it’s extremely easy to apply to a wall. I found these adorable book shelves at The Container Store and started filling them up with space books. I’ve had so much fun reading them all to Milo. My sister found the “I need my space” pillow at World Market and then I got the astronaut and rocket pillows from Crate and Barrel. Tristan found the solar system wall art at Target.
Tristan stuck glow in the dark stars all over the ceiling and we charge them by leaving the light on. The kit came with hanging planets as well but we haven’t hung those yet. The custom space name garland is so adorable and was easy to attach to the shelves using small clear hooks.
Last but not least we added a galaxy rug, which makes it much easier for Tristan and I to crawl in and out of the space. Right now, we carry Milo in and he stares at everything. We have two little bins filled with toys so he can play or we read books together. I can’t wait until he can crawl in and out. I hope he’ll really enjoy his “mini man cave” for years to come, until he outgrows it and I turn it into a storage space, haha!
