I’m so excited to finally reveal Milo’s nursery!!! Since we were building our home, it wasn’t finished when Milo was born. I waited to set up his nursery until we moved in. The house was supposed to be finished in October but ended up being delayed to December. We moved in January 8th and the first room I worked on was his nursery, of course.
While I was pregnant, I designed and planned the entire nursery and had everything in boxes in our garage, haha! I knew I wanted to do something super colorful, fun, and playful. I am not a fan of the neutral, monotone nurseries that are popular these days. Although I love a good neutral living room, I don’t think it works for a nursery. Babies need stimulation for their brain development.
I had a lot of ideas for either a boy or girl nursery, including travel, animal, space, or rainbow/unicorn themed. When I found out I was having a boy, I decided to combine the animal/travel/rainbow theme for Milo’s room. The first thing I found was the colorful shelves from Pottery Barn Kids and I fell in love. I could just imagine filling them with fun books, toys, puzzles, and more. The next thing I found was the wallpaper, from Hovia. I got his neon name sign from Sketch & Etch, and chose orange to complete the rainbow. I had bought yellow, green, teal, and navy shelves. Over the first few months of my pregnancy, I slowly filled up the shelves. I found books in corresponding colors, fun puzzles from Etsy, wooden animals, and his initials. Tristan painted the initials to match the shelves.
I chose a navy dresser and navy rocker and ottoman, plus a classic wood crib that turns into a toddler bed. For his newborn photoshoot, I wanted little knit animals (sold out). I decided to use them in these adorable hot air balloons. For the gallery wall, I knew I had to have “oh the places you’ll go” and “we’ll eat you up. we love you so” (both sold out, similar HERE & HERE) from two of my favorite kids books. Then I added on from there. I found these baby animal prints from Pottery Barn Kids, plus a custom Milo hot air balloon print from Etsy, and a Virginia state print, also from Etsy. The VA print is the perfect ode to where he was born, with cute animals, trees, and hot air balloons.
Final touches included the giraffe lamp (sold out), knit elephant and lion baskets for the changing table, matching changing pad cover and crib sheet, mobile, giant stuffed giraffe, and woven elephant laundry hamper.
