I went to Atlanta this past weekend & I wanted to share a few of my personal recommendations with a neighborhood guide to Midtown Atlanta, GA. Every time I’ve been to Atlanta (about 5-6 times in the past year), I’ve stayed in Midtown. I’ve stayed at the W Atlanta – Midtown, the Hyatt – Atlanta Midtown, and the Georgia Tech Hotel. I highly recommend the W and the Hyatt if you’re looking to slightly splurge and have a lot of amenities. The Georgia Tech Hotel is very nice and in a convenient location, at a more reasonable price.
I’ve eaten at a ton of brunch & dinner restaurants & bars in Midtown and nearby. Check out my favorites below!
BRUNCH:
Bantam + Biddy
*Southern Diner
I recommend the Fried Chicken Tenders, the Southern Breakfast All Day, & the Protein Scramble. The jalapeno cornbread & cheddar biscuits + wasabi honey are DELICIOUS & the Cafe Cielo cold brew with milk, orange, cinnamon, & vanilla is one of the best coffee drinks ever.
Escorpion
*Mexican, Day of the Dead-Themed Restaurant
I went for brunch on Saturday and it wasn’t too packed, they could accommodate a large party, AND they have bottomless mimosas ($16) & Bloody Mary’s ($32). I had the Huevos Rancheros (basically my favorite brunch dish) & they were awesome – eggs, beans, salsa, & avocado all over a cheese quesadilla.
The Flying Biscuit Cafe
*Southern All-Day Breakfast Chain
Although Flying Biscuit is a chain, I highly recommend their breakfast. It’s better than your average diner & they have apple butter for your biscuits.
DINNER:
O-Ku Atlanta
*Upscale Sushi with Skyline Views
Some of the best nigiri ever.. get the salmon belly, YUM.
TRACE
*Rustic-chic, Southern, farm-to-table Restaurant inside the W Midtown
I had various shared plates, the Herb Roasted Springer MT Chicken, & the assorted gelato.
Campagnolo
*Italian Restaurant with creative twists
The formaggio starter with various cheeses, honeycomb, almonds, & olives was about as good as charcuterie plates come. The pasta was fresh-made & so delicious.
Henry’s Midtown Tavern
*Upscale Pub
I love the variety of the menu at Henry’s – tacos, nachos, wings, & hot dogs. But I had the Thai Chicken Salad which was Panang Curry chicken, peanuts, avocado, toasted coconut, & tomatoes atop bibb lettuce. Sooo good.
BARS:
- Flip Flops – Two-level, beach-themed bar with frozen alcoholic drinks
- The Vortex Bar & Grill – Eclectic, biker bar/rock ‘n’ roll vibes
- Tin Lizzy’s Cantina – Tex-mex style food & awesome margaritas
Also while in Atlanta back in August, we went to nearby Roswell, GA to hike at Roswell Mill to Vickery Creek Falls. It was PACKED with people in the water, picnicking nearby, & enjoying the humid weather that day. The falls are really pretty but I would definitely recommend going on a spring or fall day when it’s less crowded.
I hope you all enjoyed reading my neighborhood guide to Midtown Atlanta, GA! Please comment below & give me recommendations for Atlanta – brunch spots, dinner restaurants, hotels, nearby hikes, or scenery – I’d love to check them out next time I’m there!! 🙂
