We recently had the BEST trip to Sedona, AZ. We stayed at the Enchantment Resort in Sedona for 3 nights and then spent our last night at the Boulders Resort in Scottsdale. I can’t recommend both resorts more, they were spectacular. Absolutely beautiful surroundings, the best hospitality and amenities, and spacious, comfortable rooms. We flew into Phoenix and made the 2 hour drive to Sedona on our first night. Driving into Sedona is like entering another world… the sight of the Red Rocks is breath-taking. We checked into the resort and had room service for dinner.
The next morning, we were going to hike Devil’s Bridge but it is 4 miles roundtrip if you don’t have a 4×4, off-road vehicle. It’s only 2 miles with one. We had a Range Rover that didn’t quite make the cut for off-roading and I didn’t think I could do 4 miles in the heat while pregnant. I was disappointed not to go to Devil’s Bridge, I can’t wait to go back and be able to hike it. Instead, we drove the Red Rock Scenic Byway. First, we grabbed coffees at Oak Creek Espresso and then made our way. It’s a beautiful 8 mile scenic drive, passing by Bell Rock and many places to pull off and admire the view. We stopped at the Chapel of the Holy Cross and walked up to the top. Then we stopped at Tlaquepaque Arts & Crafts village and explored some of the little shops. We had lunch at Hideaway House, an Italian restaurant with gorgeous views. The food was delicious, I highly recommend the veggie lasagna. After lunch, we drove Oak Creek Canyon Scenic Drive. Not as many places to stop along the way, but it’s beautiful.
On our 2nd day, we got up early and hiked to the Birthing Cave. It’s about 2 miles roundtrip so it as the perfect hike for me to do while pregnant. The last part is a little steep getting to the cave, but the views inside of the cave are worth it. I definitely recommend going early to avoid the heat and crowds. After the hike, we had brunch at Creekside Bistro. Everything was delicious and they have great views as well. We walked around Uptown Sedona a little, exploring the shops and grabbing ice cream. That night, we had a great dinner at Elote. Definitely make a reservation if you want to go there, it’s extremely popular and books up a month in advance.
On our last day, we checked out of Enchantment and drove 2 hours to Scottsdale. We went to the OdySea Aquarium, Butterfly Wonderland, and Wonderspace. They were all 3 awesome to explore. We had lunch at Postino and it was delicious, highly recommend! Afterwards, we checked into the Boulders Resort. It’s surrounded by huge boulders and beautiful cactuses and desert plant life. That evening, we had dinner at the Spotted Donkey (located at the resort).
