Today I’m excited to give you a peek inside our beautiful new laundry room! I was the most eager to share Milo’s Nursery Reveal but the laundry room was next on the list! In our condo we had a tiny laundry closet with a stacked washer and dryer. There was zero space to put detergent, fold laundry, or even sit a pile of clothes. I would sort the laundry in our closet and roll it to the washer/dryer or just sort it all over the hallway. It made doing laundry an even more annoying task than it is to begin with.
When we started designing the floor plan of the new house, I knew we had to have a large laundry room. At first, it was an interior room and I asked our builders to move it so that there could be a window. It was important for me to have natural light flowing through each room. Next, I really wanted a big, deep sink. My mom has a sink in her laundry room and I’ve always loved that. I thought it would be perfect for hand washing some of our more delicate clothing, watering my plants, and giving Daisy a bath.
I also wanted counter space to fold laundry and a bar for hanging clothes to dry. In the condo I would hang clothes on doorknobs all over the house to dry, which I hated. It was important to have spaces for rolling laundry carts to be tucked away, as well as cabinets to store laundry and cleaning supplies.
My laundry room design inspiration:
As for the design, I went with shiplap walls, gold hardware, and a fun gray and tan tile floor. The tile floor is one of my favorites in the whole house. We chose to do a black pocket door with half reeded glass, which I absolutely love. Aesthetically and functionally, the room turned out perfect.
The Minima team did an incredible job organizing our entire house but I especially loved the way they did the laundry room. All of my cleaning supplies are below the sink with bleach products out of reach up above, alongside laundry supplies. All of my candles are stored in the adjacent upper cabinet. Cleaning gloves, extra bars of soap, and other smaller items fill the two drawers.
Take a peek inside of our new laundry room below and comment if you have any questions! Also, let me know which room or space in the new house that you would like to see next!
