For my 30th birthday, we had a weekend getaway to Asheville, NC and stayed in a treehouse! We booked the treehouse through Asheville Glamping. We had stayed in one of their domes a few years ago for Valentine’s Day. I didn’t love that experience because the dome is very open, leaving you feeling a little exposed, and the bathroom is outside of the dome.
I was very excited to stay in the treehouse since it has a bathroom INSIDE and it’s basically a little home high up in the trees. It had a bathroom, small kitchenette area with a fridge microwave, sink, and snacks, a bed and small porch. It was very cozy and decorated super cute. The treehouse did creak A LOT in the wind but didn’t move at all so it felt very safe. It also felt more safe to be high up in the trees and not on the ground, with all of the windows open (no curtains/blinds).
The property with the treehouse is close to Weaverville. On the first night, we had dinner at Blue Mountain Pizza and Brew Pub in Weaverville. It was OK, not great. The next morning we got ready and grabbed coffee & breakfast at Yellow Mug Coffee Lounge in Weaverville. Then we headed to Biltmore Estate, about 30 minutes away. I had reserved tickets to tour the estate and grounds for 12pm that day. We waited in line for about 20 minutes then did a quick walkthrough of the house. I’ve been many times but it was Tristan’s first time there. The best part is the grounds and the gardens… all of the flowers were in bloom and absolutely beautiful! We went over to Antler Hill Village and had lunch at Cedric’s Tavern. It was also just OK, not great.
After lunch, we headed back to the treehouse to take a nap then got ready for dinner. We went into downtown Asheville and had dinner at Rhubarb. It was delicious, I highly recommend! They have a lot of small plates so we shared the spring onion hushpuppies, goat cheese burrata, heritage pork meatballs, and seared ricotta gnocchi. We absolutely loved the hushpuppies, burrata, and meatballs. After dinner, we grabbed ice cream sandwiches from Sunshine Sammies nearby and took them back to the treehouse. They were great.
The next morning, we went back to Yellow Mug Coffee Lounge for coffee & breakfast. We loved their smoothies and pastries. Definitely recommend if you’re driving through Weaverville. Then we headed back home. Overall, it was a great weekend getaway in Asheville, NC and I would absolutely stay in the treehouse again! I’d love to stay in one of Asheville Glamping’s airstreams or yurts as well.
